The Platform Behind the Plan

Built around what your money has to do.

Four portfolio solutions and a network of specialist managers — assembled to match the job each dollar is doing, and the tax character of the account it sits in. Every solution can be used on its own or blended; allocation across them is a planning decision, reviewed with you and adjusted as the plan changes.

Section One

Portfolio Solutions

Most portfolios are assembled product-first and explained later. We start from the plan: the income you need, the risk you can carry, the gains you are already sitting on, and the goals with a date attached. The platform is how that gets implemented.

Asset Allocation

Designed for your risk preference.

Globally diversified core portfolios built to a defined risk profile, from capital preservation through growth — implemented through liquid exchange-traded funds, so the portfolio can be repositioned when the plan calls for it.

  • Risk-profiled models from conservative to aggressive, mapped to the risk analysis done during planning
  • Separate taxable and retirement implementations, so turnover follows the tax treatment of the account
  • Systematic rebalancing with drift monitoring across the full allocation

Alternatives

Providing exposure to non-traditional assets.

Exposure to assets and strategies not expected to move in step with stocks and bonds — implemented through ETFs, avoiding the lockups, capital calls and eligibility hurdles of traditional alternative structures.

  • Precious metals and managed futures, for return patterns that do not track the equity market
  • Long/short, hedged equity and option-based strategies, for equity exposure with a different risk profile
  • Defined outcome ETFs, daily liquidity and transparent pricing across the entire sleeve

Defined Income

Generating a target income along with long-term growth.

For households drawing from the portfolio now, or building toward a date when they will — while a growth allocation stays in place for the years the income still has to last.

  • Targets a yield above 5%, sized against your cash flow plan rather than whatever the market happens to be paying
  • Blends dividend equity, corporate and municipal credit, and option-income strategies across account types
  • Coordinated with Social Security timing, pension elections, deferred comp and RMDs

Equity Protection

Providing downside protection during market drawdowns.

Defined-outcome and hedged equity strategies that trade away some upside for a stated buffer against loss — built for money with a short horizon, or a plan that cannot absorb a full drawdown at the wrong moment.

  • Buffered and defined-outcome equity, structured with a stated protection level and a defined cap
  • The trade-off is explicit and quantified before you own it — protection is purchased with upside, not free
  • Sized to the goal it is protecting rather than applied across the whole portfolio
Section Two · Investment Partnerships

Specialists, where a specialist is warranted

Some problems are not solved by a model portfolio. We partner with institutional managers and specialist desks to deliver purpose-built capabilities directly inside your accounts, at pricing and minimums historically out of reach for individual investors. We select and monitor the managers; you keep one point of contact.

Concentrated Stock Solutions

Executives · Founders · Long-Held Positions

Option-based and diversification strategies for a holding that has outgrown the rest of the portfolio: collars, covered calls, protective structures, exchange-style diversification, and staged unwinds sequenced against your tax picture and any trading window or 10b5-1 constraint.

*Options strategies are not suitable for all investors and involve risks that may result in significant loss, including the potential loss of the amount invested.

Tax Managed Stock Strategies

Taxable Accounts · High Marginal Brackets

Direct indexing and tax-managed separate accounts that hold the underlying stocks rather than a fund wrapper. Losses are harvested through the year and gains are realized deliberately, so the tax outcome is an input to the strategy instead of a surprise every February.

Individual Bond Strategies

Income · Liability Matching · State Tax Relief

Laddered and custom municipal, treasury and corporate portfolios built to your state, credit quality and maturity preferences. You own the bonds, so maturity dates can be matched to known future outlays and call structure is a choice rather than a fund average.

Active Stock Strategies

Core and Satellite Equity Exposure

Access to institutional active managers in separate account form, including tax-aware implementations that ordinarily require far larger minimums. Used where the evidence supports active management for that asset class, alongside indexed exposure where it does not.

Alternative Lending

Liquidity Without Selling the Portfolio

Borrowing against the portfolio instead of liquidating it: securities-based portfolio loans, and box spread financing where the rate advantage justifies the structure. Useful for a bridge, a tax bill or a purchase you would rather not fund by realizing gains. Rate, maintenance requirements and repayment path are reviewed before anything is drawn.

Account Transition

New Relationships · Consolidating Accounts

Transition analysis before a dollar moves: what transfers in kind, what has to be sold, the embedded gain that would trigger, and a multi-year path when the tax bill argues for patience. Nothing gets liquidated for the convenience of fitting a model.

How managers are selected. Partner managers are evaluated on the capability we need them for — process, tax awareness, trading, reporting and total cost to the client — and are reviewed on an ongoing basis. We are not paid by these firms for placing assets with them, and we will say plainly when a strategy is not worth its cost in your situation. Available strategies, minimums and pricing vary by custodian and account type.
Section Three

Putting it to work

01

Define the Job

Risk analysis, cash flow, tax position and the goals that have dates attached. We establish what each pool of money is actually for before discussing any strategy.

02

Build the Mix

Solutions are selected and weighted to that job, then placed in the accounts where their tax treatment does the most good. Where a specialist is warranted, we bring one in.

03

Maintain It

Rebalancing, loss harvesting, distribution management and annual review — with the allocation revisited when the plan changes, not when the market makes headlines.

Design Principles

Liquid, low cost, matched to the plan.

Every solution on the platform has to clear the same three tests before it earns a place in your portfolio. Complexity is only worth owning when it does something a simpler holding cannot.

Liquidity First

Exposure is implemented in vehicles you can exit. Even the non-traditional sleeve is accessed through ETFs — daily pricing, no lockups, no capital calls.

Cost Discipline

Total cost is measured in full — fund expense, trading and tax drag — not just the line item you can see on a statement.

Sized to the Job

Each solution is weighted to what it is actually there to do, and revisited when your plan changes rather than when markets move.
